Migraine is more than a headache. For many, it’s more than physical pain. It’s a complex neurological disease that can touch every part of life — shaping careers, relationships, and even a person’s sense of hope for the future.

At the American Migraine Foundation, we understand that migraine isn’t just something you “get through.” It’s something you live with every day, even between attacks. The unpredictability of symptoms, the stigma from those who don’t understand, and the exhaustion of navigating treatment can all take a heavy emotional toll.

We exist to change that.

Putting Patients First

Our mission is built on the belief that no one should feel alone in their migraine journey. We create resources grounded in science and reviewed by leading healthcare professionals, ensuring that every article, video, and patient guide offers accurate, trustworthy information. We also amplify the voices of people living with migraine — because your stories matter and help others feel seen.

Bridging the Gap Between Research and Real Life

Founded in 2010 by the American Headache Society, AMF was created to be the patient-facing arm of the migraine community — translating expertise from headache medicine into resources, advocacy, and education for patients and caregivers. That partnership continues today, with AHS driving scientific discovery and AMF ensuring those discoveries reach the people who need them most.

From emerging treatments to innovative prevention strategies, our role is to make sure the latest science becomes practical knowledge that can improve lives.

Building Community and Connection

Living with migraine can feel isolating. That’s why we’ve created spaces like our Move Against Migraine Facebook group — a community of tens of thousands who understand firsthand what you’re going through. Whether it’s sharing tips, offering encouragement, or simply listening, these connections remind us all that we’re stronger together.

Our Commitment Endures

We know that migraine affects more than the body — it impacts mental health, daily life, and the ability to dream about tomorrow. That’s why our work goes beyond awareness. We’re here to provide information, advocate for better treatment access, foster supportive communities, and invest in research that can change the future of migraine care.

The American Migraine Foundation exists to empower, educate, and connect everyone affected by migraine — and we’re still here, every day, doing just that.
