The American Migraine Foundation celebrates community during MHAM
Every June, the American Migraine Foundation joins the migraine community in recognizing Migraine and Headache Awareness Month (MHAM). The month is a time for patient advocates, healthcare providers, caregivers and more to raise awareness for migraine. It’s also an opportunity to advocate for better care. This year’s theme, “You Need Community,” underscores the importance of working together and leaning on each other to get through the good, the bad and the migraine.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has changed life as we know it, we’re emboldened by the unwavering strength of the community and the shared commitment to continue moving against migraine. The AMF online community has demonstrated that when we all stand together, no one stands alone. This Migraine and Headache Awareness Month is no different, and AMF is looking forward to working with its partners and the migraine community to champion advocacy, build community and raise awareness around this disabling disease.
How to Get involved
Tell us how you #MoveAgainstMigraine
We all move against migraine in our own ways. We do so in such ways as teaching others about the disease or participating in advocacy events. Use the hashtag to tell us how you #MoveAgainstMigraine on any social media channel and we’ll share your message with our network. Your story of effecting change could inspire others and encourage them to do the same. You can also change your Facebook profile frame and use the opportunity to explain why you #MoveAgainstMigraine.

Share your story to help raise funds
June is the perfect time to share your personal migraine experience with your network. Ask your loved ones to join you in making a difference for the migraine community by setting up a campaign for AMF on Facebook or by creating a unique crowdfunding page here. You can personalize the fundraiser to explain what migraine means to you. Also, you can encourage your friends and family to join you in supporting migraine awareness.
You can also share your story with the American Migraine Foundation here.
Participate in our educational events
The American Migraine Foundation is hosting events throughout June to connect the community to helpful resources. Our Facebook Live events will cover topics like advocating for children living with migraine and the importance of self-advocacy, while our Reddit AMA, hosted in the Migraine subreddit, is a great opportunity to get your questions about migraine answered by doctors.
Follow AMF on social media and tune in to learn more about these opportunities.
We hope that MHAM gives you the opportunity to bond with members of our private Move Against Migraine community and remember that you’re not alone. Your migraine story is important, and you can raise your voice to make a lasting change in your immediate community. Thank you for joining the #MoveAgainstMigraine.
