The American Migraine Foundation champions advocacy, research and more during MHAM
The month of June is dedicated to raising awareness for migraine and celebrating how far we’ve come in the #MoveAgainstMigraine. Like all of you, we look forward to working with the whole community to champion advocacy, build community and raise awareness for this disabling disease.
Will you join us? Here are four ways to get involved:
#1 Save the Date
This month is full of fun, educational events to get you the answers you need about what’s next in migraine. Here are some of the events that the Foundation is hosting:
Monday, June 21: Twitter Chat: Migraine Advocacy and You
Join the very active migraine Twitter community in sharing advocacy wins and making a statement about why the #MoveAgainstMigraine is important to you. Dr. Amaal Starling, a headache specialist and migraine advocate, will be chatting with our very own Executive Director, Nim Lalvani about what advocacy looks like. Join the conversation Monday, June 21 at 3 p.m. ET but follow us now for other exciting updates.
Thursday, June 24: Reddit Ask Me Anything About Migraine
Have a question about migraine that isn’t answered in our resource library? Want to hear from a doctor in real time? Join us on Reddit for one of our signature migraine “Ask Me Anythings.” Headache specialists from our Editorial Board and beyond will answer user-submitted questions on all things migraine. You don’t want to miss this!
Date To Be Announced: Migraine State of the Union: Webinar
What better way to cap off MHAM than to hear from leading migraine experts about where we are and where we’re headed as a community? This is truly an era of new care. We look forward to celebrating how far we’ve gone and getting excited for the future. You can register for the webinar here.
#2 Start a Fundraiser
Make a difference by setting up a month-long donation campaign for AMF on Facebook. What better time to ask your friends and family to help you raise funds and support for migraine research? Here are some statements you can customize and use to make your ask more compelling:
Migraine is not just a headache—it’s a disabling disease that affects my work, plans and relationships. For Migraine and Headache Awareness Month, I am raising money for the American Migraine Foundation to support impactful research that will lead to better treatments. Make a donation today to support millions of people like me.
39 million Americans live with migraine, and I am one of them. This disabling disease has stolen so many happy moments and opportunities from me. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Donate to the American Migraine Foundation today to support life-changing research and the fight against migraine.

#3 Raise Your Voice
Whether you’re disclosing your diagnosis to your colleagues or sharing your story with the world, you can count on our support. Our resource library is full of articles to help you advocate, whether you’re trying to start the conversation about migraine, talk to your doctor about migraine or explain migraine to your child. We’re also launching an Instagram/Facebook Story template to help us set the record straight about migraine, so make sure to download it here and post it to your story.
#4 Tell us how you #MoveAgainstMigraine
We all move against migraine in our own ways. Whether you’re teaching others about the disease or participating in advocacy events, use the hashtag to tell us how you #MoveAgainstMigraine. Your advocacy could inspire others and encourage them to do the same.
We hope that MHAM gives you the opportunity to bond with other members of the community and move against migraine together. Please participate however you see fit and follow our social media to stay up to date. Whether on Reddit, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, we’re here to connect doctors to patients and make living with migraine a little easier. Happy MHAM!
