Emerging Advocates Program
Your voice can make a difference. The Emerging Advocates Program empowers individuals impacted by migraine to build advocacy skills, raise awareness and become a stronger voice for the migraine community.
Emerging Advocates Program
The American Migraine Foundation’s Emerging Advocates Program empowers people living with migraine and headache disorders to become informed, confident advocates for themselves and the broader migraine community.
Whether you’re passionate about raising awareness, reducing stigma, improving access to care, or simply sharing your story to help others feel less alone, this program provides the knowledge, skills, and support to make a meaningful impact.
The updated Emerging Advocates Program, which launched in Fall 2026, features 13 engaging lessons delivered through a combination of self-paced online learning and interactive virtual sessions, over 4 months. Participants will learn from advocacy leaders, healthcare experts, and fellow advocates while building practical skills in storytelling, self-advocacy, community engagement, media, and public policy.
Throughout the program, you’ll:
- Build confidence in sharing your migraine journey.
- Learn effective advocacy strategies to create meaningful change.
- Develop leadership and communication skills.
- Connect with a supportive network of people who understand life with migraine.
- Become part of a growing community of advocates working to improve care, increase understanding, and reduce stigma.
Interested individuals must complete an application, and participants are selected based on their interest in advocacy, commitment to the program, and desire to actively engage throughout the experience and the intention to make an impact beyond the program. Because the program is highly interactive, participants are expected to complete all 13 lessons, participate in virtual sessions, and contribute to discussions and activities with their fellow advocates.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants graduate as AMF Advocacy Ambassadors—a distinguished network of trained advocates who may be invited to participate in future American Migraine Foundation initiatives, including media opportunities, educational events, research activities, awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, and community engagement efforts.
Whether you’re new to advocacy or looking to take your involvement to the next level, the Emerging Advocates Program offers a welcoming place to learn, grow, and make a difference.
